The Institute of Tropical Aquaculture and Fisheries (AKUATROP), a Higher Institution Centre of Excellence at Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), will host the International Workshop on Aquatic Organisms Health Husbandry (AQUAHEALTH 2026) from 27 to 30 April 2026.

The workshop will take place at Kenyir Lake in Terengganu, Malaysia. The theme is "Exploring Aquatic Organism Health through Aquatic Forensic Science".

  • Participants will receive hands-on training in:
  • Aquatic organism health assessment
  • Parasitology techniques
  • Aquatic forensic science methods
  • Candling methods for organism examination
  • Specimen slide preparation
  • Seafood freshness index determination
  • Water quality monitoring protocols

Practical training sessions will be conducted in the natural lake environment. The programme includes houseboat cruises, jungle trekking, and field excursions around Kenyir Lake.

Registration and fees

The workshop fee is RM2,500 (approximately USD650) per person. This covers four days and three nights, including accommodation, meals, and training materials. Registration closes on 15 April 2026. Places are limited.

Accreditation

The programme is registered with HRD Corp Malaysia as a claimable training programme.
