International Hands-On Training Course on Utilising Microbiome and Genomic Resources for Understanding and Mitigating Antimicrobial Resistance in the One Health Context

Nitte University is hosting a five-day international training course focused on utilising microbiome and genomic resources to understand and mitigate antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in a One Health context. This course aims to build capacity among professionals from low and middle-income countries in managing AMR, a critical global health issue impacting humans, animals, and the environment.

The course is organised by the FAO Reference Centres for Antimicrobial Resistance and Aquaculture Biosecurity and Nitte University, in collaboration with the Indian council of Agricultural Research and FAO.

Course objectives

Participants will gain hands-on experience in:

  • Managing bacterial diseases and biosecurity in aquaculture.
  • Understanding AMR in the One Health context.
  • Utilising genomic tools for AMR detection.
  • Conducting antimicrobial susceptibility testing for aquatic bacteria.

Target audience

This training is designed for professionals in aquatic health, aquaculture, government, industry, and academia who manage aquatic health and AMR.

Participation details

  • No registration fee.
  • Participants must secure their travel and subsistence funding.
  • Forty candidates will be selected based on interest, experience, and post-training plans.
