FAO e-learning course “End Child Labour in Agriculture”

FAO has developed an online training course on ending child labour in agriculture. The course is designed to raise awareness and build knowledge among agricultural stakeholders, providing instruction on:

  • Child labour in agriculture, its causes and consequences.
  • How agricultural stakeholders and partner should work together to eliminate child labour.
  • Programmes and policies to address child labour.

The course aims to build specific skills, depending on work-related responsibilities and tasks and/or interests, by providing concrete ideas and guidance that can be applied in real life agricultural policy and programming situations. It is designed to meet the information needs of agricultural professionals, including:

  • Policy-makers and advisors.
  • Programme designers and implementers.
  • Researchers.
  • Statisticians.

There are fifteen lessons ranging from approximately 30-65 minutes duration (total duration about twelve hours) in seven units:

  • Introduction to child labour in agriculture.
  • Identifying and coordinating stakeholders.
  • Assessing and generating data and knowledge.
  • Incorporating child labour in policies and strategies.
  • Addressing child labour in agricultural programmes.
  • Monitoring, evaluating and reporting.
  • Developing capacity and communicating effectively.
