Experience

I have been working in the area of aquaculture nutrition and feed technology since 1997. The main research areas of interest are nutrient requirement of Brackishwater fish and shrimps. The main focus of our research work is to develop cost effect feed technology for shrimp and fish and the prioritised areas are nutrient requirement of candidate species; feed processing technology; farm made feeds; functional feeds for broodstock and larvae of fish and shrimp; high health feeds; ornamental feeds; feed management and the development and commercialisation of cost-effective feed technologies.

Projects

  • Newer feed resources and feed additives for development and improvement of shrimp and fish feeds.
  • Development of cost effective feeds for brackishwater fish and shrimp through specific dietary nutrient optimisation and alternative feed ingredients.
  • Improvement of shrimp production and productivity through quality seed production and diversification into other shrimp species.
  • Development of feeds for aquaculture of brackishwater shrimp and finfishes.
  • Development and demonstration of balanced feeds for Asian seabass, crabs and improvement of shrimp feeds.
  • Sustainable shrimp production through domestication of Penaeus monodon, development of culture practice for Marsopenaeus japonicus and adaption of best management practices in farming.
  • Development of substrate specific fibrolytic enzymes for enhancing nutrient utilisation in shrimp.
  • Cost effective shrimp farming through adoption of indigenous innovative feed and better management practices by small scale farmers.
  • Outreach Activity on Fish Feeds.
  • Diversification of Livelihoods among Women Self Help Groups Through Coastal Aquaculture Technologies.
  • Demonstration of Asian seabass, Lates calcarifer farming in the pond culture system.
  • Development of low fish meal feeds for shrimp aquaculture.
  • ICAR Outreach Activity on Nutrient Profiling and Evaluation of Fish as a Dietary Component (Consortium Project).
  • Evaluation and refinement of indigenous automatic feed dispenser for shrimp farming.
  • Seaweeds for bioremediation in recirculatory aquaculture system.
  • Assessment of productivity and variation in nutritional characteristics of bio-floc – a sustainable feed for farmed aquatic animals.
