The sixteen papers in this volume were largely based on the data from a survey of more than 5,000 shrimp and close to 6,000 carp farms in sixteen countries and territories in the Asia-Pacific region. This survey was conducted under the ADB/NACA regional study and workshop on aquaculture sustainability and the environment (RETA 5534). The contents of the volume are as follows:
Part I: Shrimp
- Overview of the world shrimp industry.
Bith-Hong Ling, PingSun Leung and Yung C. Shang. - Comparing Asian shrimp farming: The domestic resource cost (DRC) approach.
Bith-Hong Ling, PingSun Leung and Yung C. Shang. - Comparative economics of shrimp farming in Asia.
Yung C. Shang, PingSun Leung and Bith-Hong Ling - Intercountry productivity comparisons of black tiger shrimp culture in Asia.
PingSun Leung and Lokugam H.P. Gunaratne - Asian black tiger shrimp industry: A meta-production frontier analysis.
Lokugam H.P. Gunaratne and PingSun Leung - Productivity analysis of Malaysian cultured shrimp industry.
