Listed below are the reported aquatic animal diseases submitted by countries in the Asia-Pacific region, which covers the third quarter of 2024. The original and updated reports can be accessed from the QAAD page.
Finfish Diseases
- Infection with red seabream iridovirus (RSIV): Chinese Taipei in seabass (Lates calcarifer) and hybrid grouper (Epinephelus fuscoguttatus x E. lanceolatus); Hong Kong in hybrid grouper (E. merrax x E. lanceolatus) imported from Taiwan; India, reported as Infectious spleen and kidney necrosis virus (ISKNV) in zebra fish (Danio rerio), freshwater angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare) and common carp (Cyprinus carpio)
- Grouper iridoviral disease: Chinese Taipei in seabass (L. calcarifer).
- Viral encephalopathy and retinopathy (VER): Australia in farmed Queensland grouper (E. lanceolatus); and, Chinese Taipei in hybrid grouper (E. fuscoguttatus x E. lanceolatus), seabass (L. calcarifer) and orange spotted grouper (E. coioides).
- Carp edema virus disease: India in common carp (C. carpio).
- Enteric septicaemia of catfish: Vietnam in farmed catfish (Pangasius micronema and P. hypophthalmus)
Molluscan Diseases
- Infection with Perkinsus olseni: India in wild samples of charru mussel (Mytella strigata), green mussel (Perna viridis) and short neck clam (Paphia malabarica).
Crustacean Diseases:
- Infection with white spot syndrome virus (WSSV): India in whiteleg shrimp (Penaeus vannamei).
- Infection with infectious hypodermal and hematopoietic necrosis virus (IHHNV): Australia in wild tiger prawn (Penaeus monodon); India in P. vannmei.
- Hepatopancreatic microsporidiosis caused by Enterocytozoon hepatopenaei (HPM-EHP): India in P. vannamei; and, Malaysia in P. vannaemi and P. monodon.
Amphibian Diseases
- Infection with Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis: Australia in an unknown species of amphibian.
Other Diseases
- India reported Infection with Tilapia parvovirus in Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus).

The Quarterly Aquatic Animal Disease report provides information about the status of aquatic animal disease in 21 participating states in the Asia-Pacific region. The diseases covered in the report are reviewed annually by the Asia Regional Advisory Group on Aquatic Animal Health. The report was first published in the second quarter of 1998. It is a joint activity between NACA, FAO and the OIE Regional Representation (Tokyo).
